Katherine O'Brien
Executive Producer
WE STILL TEACH Executive Producer Katherine O'Brien is a writer, filmmaker, and creative consultant, operating in Hollywood and throughout the international marketplace over 15 years. She creates comedic, dramatic, and documentary content for film, television, and the digital space. Additionally, she provides expert story analysis, coverage, and script consultation for world-renowned Hollywood production companies, internationally and critically acclaimed filmmakers, and national film commissions. Katherine holds a BFA in Writing for Film and Television from the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

Katherine centers her research and creative work on building pathways to platforms aimed at increasing diverse and equitable representation in media arts. She is a founding faculty member at The Second City’s Harold Ramis Film School, and Adjunct Professor at DePaul University and Columbia College Chicago. Frequently tapped as a panelist, visiting guest lecturer, and festival juror for numerous educational media institutions around the world, Katherine also contributes to PBS SoCal’s At-Home Learning platform to support parents and teachers during pandemic school closures.
Katherine is a fierce advocate for equity and inclusion in public education. She is a Chicago Public School (CPS) mom, CTU teacher’s wife, an active parent volunteer, and appointed Local School Council Parent Representative at LaSalle Language Academy.
Melinda Spaulding
Executive Producer
Melinda Spaulding is an Emmy award-winning journalist, co-founder of 1092 Media, and
WE STILL TEACH Executive Producer who aims to create a content bridge between education and broadcasting. Her concept of airing accessible educational content into the homes of children during the Covid-19 pandemic is currently airing in Houston, Washington D.C. and Chicago.

Melinda was a member of the KRIV-TV Fox 26 news team in Houston, TX for 13 years, co-anchoring the evening news and reporting stories. Prior to that, she was a reporter/anchor at WGNO-TV, the ABC news affiliate in New Orleans. She won an Emmy for Best Spot News Coverage and was named Best Spot News Reporter for her regional Associated Press work. Spaulding started her journalism career in New York City as a member of the Entertainment Weekly Online launch team and the first Editor-In-Chief of Essence Online. She went on to become a writer and morning news producer at KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, winning the Best News Writing Award from the regional Associated Press.
Melinda currently serves as Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the Texas Southern University Foundation, where she directs TSU’s development, alumni relations, and foundation areas as well as KTSU 90.9 FM.
The New Jersey native is a graduate of Howard University. She and her husband, Felix, are the proud parents of daughter, Landon and son, Felix II.
Tamika J. Spaulding
Executive Producer
Tamika J. Spaulding is a filmmaker and consultant with an 18-year track record as a creative strategist and project manager with a successful background in event management, government affairs and visual projects. Tamika currently serves as Executive Producer of WE STILL TEACH, an innovative educational TV show, conceived and launched during the coronavirus crisis, enabling teachers to connect with students with no access to internet/remote learning by broadcasting directly into their homes. She is also the COO for the Technology CEO Council, a CEO-led tech advocacy group in Washington, DC.
Tamika's clients have ranged from corporations and small businesses to associations and campaigns, with services that include creative content, marketing, issue advocacy, and project management.
Her client list has included the Technology CEO Council, the Computer Coalition for Responsible Exports, The Chevalier Law Firm, Steaks & Stogies and Pro-Vision, Inc., as a Partner with 1092 Media. Tamika has managed events across the U.S., in 15 countries, and has won PRSA and Hermes awards for creative content and visual projects.
At WE STILL TEACH, we believe it is our responsibility to ensure that every child has access to education today.
Seeing this initiative launch in Chicago has been incredible. I'm proud to be part of the team of teachers, volunteers, and advocates that has worked so hard to help children get the access and education that they need and deserve, regardless of income.
